This meme reminded me of a story that I posted last month about Katie Klein. I would never have published Katie’s story as hers, if not for the permission of the Klein family. I believe that the message is so important and I would have shared it anonymously, but the Klein family insisted that I go with the story as presented to them as an ode to Katie. They want to shed a light on the challenges Katie faced alone, and bring them out of darkness so that others can help.

Since posting the story, the Klein family has been courageous. They haven’t shied away from the pain. Instead, they’ve taken it head on and now they are activists for suicide prevention. We are working with them to build a web page in Katie’s memory and to raise money to support the cause. The collective mindset is if the effort saves one life, the time invested is so worth it.
Just like the thoughtful young lady and her starfish.
