My grandparents are amazing people. This past fall, they gifted me one of their cars and I couldn’t have been more thankful. The only thing my grandparents said was “you better keep this car clean and in good shape.” They are very meticulous when it comes to their vehicles.
Well since September, I have been doing a great job keeping it up to their standards, until Tuesday…
I left work, hopped in my car, only to be stopped at the site of a note on my windshield. Nervous, I got out and snagged the torn piece of envelop out from under my wiper. The note read, “I backed into your car, if there is a problem, call this number…” I was nervous, angry, and a little annoyed. I know, it’s just a car and it can be fixed.
Then something clicked in my head. This person didn’t have to leave a note. They could have hit me and then ignored it and left. The fact that they stopped and left a note, says a lot. Suddenly the state of the car was less important. I am blessed to have this car, I am thankful this kind person left a note, and the rest can be figured out.
Allow yourself to see the bright side of things. It doesn’t make you naïve to the situation at hand, it simply helps you to realize how much we have to be grateful for.
